Michael Graves is a world renown American architect and Hoosier native who has expressed beauty and inspiration through his contemporary style of architecture. Graves was born in Indianapolis, Indiana and attended Broad Ripple High School. He continued to achieve a bachelor’s degree from the University of Cincinnati and a master’s degree from Harvard University. He is still a public practicing architect in Princeton, New Jersey where he also teaches at Princeton University. In addition to his popular line of household items at Target, Graves and his firm have earned acclaim for a wide variety of commercial and residential buildings and interior design.
ARTSPARK of the Indianapolis Art Center was also designed by Michael Graves, bringing together art, artists and the community through multi-sensory sculptures in an open-air setting. Not bound by traditional ideas of art education, ARTSPARK provides studio and galleries without walls, creating a place where art and nature harmonize. This natural creative playground showcases open-air studios developed for people of all ages and abilities to touch, play, create and grow stimulating all of the senses. Meander through the varied landscape to uncover a palette of hues, fragrant vegetation, various textures and sounds of wildlife.
