Are you intrigued with fabrics, textiles and the ancient craft of weaving? In this loom weaving class, we will create a "hands-on" experience with fibers, techniques, color and patterns. We will learn some theory behind those beautiful fabrics and discover a new language of weaving terms. We will learn to draft patterns and create multiple "looks" with a single warp. Students will learn to prepare a 4-shaft loom for weaving and weave small samplers of various colors and patterns such as twill, overshot, lace and plain weave. Instructor will conduct informal lectures, facilitate group discussions, and demonstrate technique. Materials consist of warp and weft threads for class projects and a notebook of comprehensive weaving information. If you have a loom and can easily bring it to class, you can work with the instructor to design a project and prepare it for weaving. This class is designed for beginners or for those who have woven in the past and want to rekindle their knowledge. Textile Studio Upper in the Cultural Complex. About Nina: MA in Museum Studies,

Love hand-dyed fabrics but feel they are too difficult and messy to create or just don’t know where to start? Learn how easy, safe and fast you can dye your own unique, colorfast fabrics to sew together a few hours later. You’ll create your favorite dye colors to produce 9 one-yard pieces of crystallized/mottled, single and multi-colored, 100% cotton, viscose rayon, and/or linen. The controlled, free-spirited method of low-water immersion dying comes from Ann Johnston's Color By Accident and Bobbie's 17 years of dye playing. Whether you’ve never dyed before or have been using other methods, you’ll want to continue dyeing at home with this simplified method. Textile Studio Lower at the Cultural Complex.
